Evaluation on Cabinets of curiosity presentation

Over and done with

Initially our idea came from a TV series called Scandal, “A former White House Communications Director starts her own crisis management firm only to realize her clients are not the onimages.jpegly ones with secrets.”

(Anonymous . (2012). Scandal. Available: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1837576/. Last accessed 26 nov.)

We thought that we could work with this idea to create a short drama piece slowly revealing aspects of ‘Taylors’ Character. This enables us to hand out different roles within the group giving us equal chance to talk also to make a convincing case.

Our end result is quite different to how we thought it would of played out at the start, it started of quite basic, she wasn’t a character you could have feelings for but as we developed he it gave us a clearer idea of how we would present ‘Taylor’ with out her actually being there as we know her inside out.

The case was about a missing girl called ‘Taylor India Johnson’ who was a daughter of rich parents and lived a decent life with her family but they have to move around a lot because of her fathers work, she logged on youtube and was Instagram famous. In the presentation we showed CCTV footage on the day she went missing, audio on a emergency phone call she had with the police and he Instagram account IMG_0740.jpgwhich has photos with the stalker appearing from the background. All these clues were put there so the audience felt like they were in the investigation too almost making them active participants even if they are just watching.

I feel we done a good job but there will always be room for improvement as it was no where near perfect. The fact that we went actors and instead we are media producers might mean the presentation suffered at point for example somebody might forget their line but you can’t move on as you need your Que. and the audience can very easily pick up on that mistake. Also the gaps between the lines and getting stuff up on the presentaton could of been awkward to watch but we definitely tried to cover up any technical difficulties by having a conversation in character.I was the hacker so I was able to go into databases and find stuff like her hospital records which does let the audience know bits and pieces of our character.

This is the script we as a group came up with the Farai took note and printed us out to practice with which made us feel a bit more organised.

One problem I do feel we had was coming up with a fresh original idea because many other groups do the idea of some sort of detective, its been done to many times so it wasn’t much of a surprise to the audience. Its negative because I would like to keep the audience on their toes, engaged wanting more.

If we had practiced a bit more we would have been able to get the performance on point flowing nicely and even might of been able to implement quirky ideas into our presentation.
